Brian Knappenberger is an award-winning director, writer, and producer whose projects include the Emmy-nominated TURNING POINT: 9/11 and the War on Terror, Nobody Speak: Trials of the Free Press and The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez. His film The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, won a WGA award for Best Documentary Screenplay and was shortlisted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Decider called him “the best director documenting our digital age.” He runs the Los Angeles based production company Luminant Media, whose work can be found on Netflix, PBS FRONTLINE/World, National Geographic, Bloomberg Television, and the Discovery Channel.
Executive Producer, SVP Development
Sarah is an Emmy-award winning journalist and executive producer with wide-ranging experience across nonfiction and current events story-telling. She joined Luminant in 2022 as the Executive Producer and Showrunner of Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War (Netflix). Before joining Luminant, Sarah was a senior manager at CBS News, overseeing award-winning coverage on a variety of topics. She also covered the 2012 Presidential Election and produced multiple programs for the news division’s long-form unit. Prior to CBS, she produced documentaries and docuseries for a variety of networks including National Geographic, the History Channel, and Discovery.
SVP Production
Clare Tucker is an Emmy, Peabody, and Critics Choice Award recognized film and television producer and the SVP of Production at Luminant Media. Her producing credits include SCOUTS HONOR: THE SECRET FILES OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA (Netflix), WEB OF MAKE BELIEVE: DEATH, LIES AND THE INTERNET (Netflix), TURNING POINT: 9/11 AND THE WAR ON TERROR (Netflix), CHANGING THE GAME (Hulu), and upcoming TURNING POINT: THE BOMB AND THE COLD WAR. She is an active member of the Television Academy, and a cultural diplomat with the U.S. State Department and the American Film Showcase.
Producer, Luminant Media
Sabrina Parke is a documentary producer specializing in investigative research and finding the human element in stories. She has helped produce some of Luminant Media’s most notable projects of the past few years including The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez and Emmy nominees Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror & Church and the Fourth Estate. Her documentaries have screened at Sundance, The Berlin Film Festival & The Paley Center for Media. She’s also shepherded projects for VICE, Tremolo, HitRecord & Buzzfeed. Outside of the office, Sabrina serves on the Board of Directors for the historic Los Angeles Breakfast Club.
Editor
Sean Jarrett has spent much of the last five years editing films and series for Luminant Media. These projects include Netflix Originals Web of Make Believe (2022), Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror (2021), and The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020). Sean was also an editor for the Luminant produced short film Church and the Fourth Estate (2020) which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Other Sundance premieres include Happy Happy Joy Joy: The Ren & Stimpy Story (2020), Hal (2018), and Holy Hell (2016). Additional projects include work produced for ABC and Vice TV.
Head of Post Production
A writer and journalist at heart, Aaron Howell found his niche in post-production while working in documentary film and television. A graduate of New York University with a Master’s degree in News and Documentary production, he applies his technical experience to helping Luminant succeed in an ever-changing environment of remote editing, digital workflows, and IT infrastructure.
