CHURCH AND THE FOURTH ESTATE

When Idaho Falls Post Register reporter Peter Zuckerman and his editor Dean Miller attempt to track down a mysteriously disappeared courtroom file, they accidentally uncover a series of child abuse allegations against a Boy Scout troop in Southern Idaho. The discovery leads them to a man named Adam Steed, who courageously tells them a horrific story of abuse which also implicates the Church of Latter Day Saints. When the then-richest man in Idaho, Frank Vandersloot, takes steps to discredit the stories by publishing his own rebuttal in the same newspaper, the town and church are buried in controversy. The truth turns out to be worse than anyone imagined, the Boy Scouts Organization ultimately declares bankruptcy when nearly 82,000 people come forward with stories of their own.

CHURCH AND THE FOURTH ESTATE premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy.
